The Bank of China is one of four large banks owned by the People's Republic of China. Although the bank is present in the country of Russia, less than 4% of activity comes from operations outside the Chinese state. Chinese Vice Premier Wu Ye and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov unveiled the representative office of Import-Export Bank of China in St Petersburg on June 9, 2007 in a bid to promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
